Version
How much value do we put on human
life? Do we put the same value on human life as God does? God puts an infinite
value on each and every human life as He created each one of us. It doesn’t
matter whether we are able-bodied or disabled, the Lord puts the same value on
each of us. In fact, all through Scripture, we see the Lord commanding His
people to take special care of the weak, poor and vulnerable among them. “You shall not afflict any widow or
fatherless child. If you afflict them in any way, and they cry
at all to Me, I will surely hear their cry; and My wrath will
become hot, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives shall be
widows, and your children fatherless.” (Exodus 22:22-24)
In
Jeremiah 1:5 the Lord told Jeremiah that He knew him before he was formed in
the womb. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I
sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”
There is a lot of debate around the
question, “When does life begin?” This question is answered for us here.
According to the Lord, the life of every human being begins even before we were
formed in our mother’s womb, long before we were thought of by our parents. The
Lord knew us way back in eternity as we were already in His mind. It is even
confirmed by Genetics and Embryology that at the moment of conception a new and
unrepeatable human being with his or her unique DNA and gender is created.

In Psalm 139, it speaks of the Lord
seeing us being formed in our mother’s womb. “For You
formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You,
for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul
knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And
skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my
substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book, they all were written, The
days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.” (Psalm139:13-16)
With it
being true that every human’s life begins at the moment of conception, how can
anyone, doctors, nurses or mothers justify abortion at any stage? As there is currently no abortion law in
Canada, a mother has the legal right to have an abortion at any stage during
her pregnancy, even right up until the umbilical cord is severed. In a globe of
close to 200 countries, Canada is one of only a few countries with no
restrictions on abortion. (Information obtained from Peterborough Pro-Life)
On
February 2nd of this year, a mother and drug abuser wanted an
abortion at 38 weeks along in her pregnancy, almost at the time of giving
birth. Even though the staff at the Scared Heart Hospital in Quebec offered to
adopt the baby, the mother still wanted an abortion.
“The
pro-life organization Campagne
Québec-Vie (CQV) is asking that decision-makers, at the
provincial and federal levels, to once again consider the issue of abortion, in
light of a report by a whistleblower that an operating theater team at Sacré Coeur Hospital in Montreal killed an unborn
child at 38 weeks gestation by lethal injection.” (Information found online)
"At
the request of a mother who was no doubt in difficulty, the personnel of the
Sacré Coeur hospital in Montreal allegedly put to death a 38-week-old baby,
that is to say a fully formed child, who could have easily survived birth and
make an adoptive couple happy," said Georges Buscemi, president of CQV. (Information found online) There was
nothing medically wrong with the child.

If doctors, who have taken an oath to do
all they can to preserve life, are aborting fully formed babies in the womb,
who knows how far down this slippery slope they will slide? What will be next?
Is it possible that a baby born with a birth defect would be left to die in the
delivery room? If this thinking was popular when I was still-born, perhaps the
Intern would not have spent half an hour trying to get me breathing. I would
not be living today. To me, killing a
38-week-old baby in the womb, or leaving a baby born with a birth defect to die
is outright MURDER. By allowing things like this to happen, we as a society,
are breaking one of the Ten Commandments, “You shall not murder.” (Exodus
20:13)
Baby Daniel is an unborn Canadian martyr
who was aborted (purposely murdered) by lethal injection. Why? Simply because
his mother could not care for him as a result of being in great difficulty. Nor
did she want anyone else to care for him as she had many staff members at the hospital
willing to adopt him. (Information obtained online) This was a very selfish act
on the mother’s part. I wonder what she or any other mother who has had an
abortion will say when they stand before God on judgement day.
Going back to the Pro-Life information, we
learn that just 45 days after conception, the baby’s own heart is now beating
with the preborn child’s own blood. An ultrasound at the same 45-day mark tells
us the baby’s brain waves can be read. It is also at this point that all the
child’s organs are not only fully formed, but are fully functioning. It is also
now that the baby is sensitive to light, pressure, sound, heat and pain. At 2 ½
months, the baby has his or her own fingerprints. (Information obtained from
Peterborough Pro-Life)
Now for some sobering facts. The Abortion
Rights of Canada tells us that one million children died by abortion between
2007 and 2017. Statistics Canada tells us in Ontario alone, there were 42,100
abortions in 2014. In 2015, there were 100,104 children who died by
abortion. Numbers like that are hard to
fathom. (Information obtained from Peterborough Pro-Life)
Let us as Canadians show we care in some
way. God is going to judge us one day. A society is known by how they treat the
most venerable members of their society. I would say a baby in the womb is
indeed the most venerable member of society, especially in this day and age.
If you have had an abortion and are truly
sorry for taking the life of your baby, there is forgiveness with God. Stop
carrying that load of guilt and turn to your loving Heavenly Father. Pray this
prayer, “Heavenly Father, I repent of aborting my baby and ask You to forgive
me for it and all my sin. I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I want to live
for You. Amen.”
If you have a Bible, or can access one
online, start by reading the Gospel of John, which is the fourth Book of the
New Testament. It will tell you how much your Heavenly Father loves you and
what He has done for you by sending His Son, Jesus, to die on the Cross for your
sin.
